Time: July 30th, 2022
Place: Muthatthi
Company: Wife & Daughter
Highlights: This place has always been memorable to me. Back in early 90s, my parents & I had picnicked here along with dad's colleagues and on the way back up the hill, our Maruti van broke down. I still remember the bus driver helping us out by towing even though passengers were angry at him for the delay. The next time I was here was in 1996 with couple of my friends. We had camped here overnight and then trekked beside the river all the way to Sangama. That was my first time I had camped and even trekked on a multi-day trip - living completely in the wild nature. Camping (hearing the river beside us but unable to see), finding wood for our maggi, using a detailed trekker's map, seeing elephant's fresh cow dung, etc. Be that as it may, wanted to show this place to wifey & daughter. So chose this lazy weekend day.
We left at noon. Brunch at nearby restaurant. A nice easy drive all the way to Muthatthi, reached about 3:15 pm. We could see the water level was good but it was increasing. So we hurriedly entered the river, splashed about and had fun in general. It was perfect climate - not too cold nor hot. And Sunny as well. Satisfied, we left after about an hour. Visited the nearby Hanuman temple, and then headed back to home. On the way, we parked roadside for a home-packed food. Wonderful to eat amidst nature, hearing all the croaking and chirping! It rained heavily on the way back at some places. And there was traffic jam. We stopped at the same place where we had brunch for our dinner! And reached home safely just before 9 pm. A day spent in nature is a day well spent indeed!
